I painted this outdoors on a gorgeous day in Wethersfield, Connecticut. So much was beautiful that early autumn day, that I decided to focus closely on only one bit. This tree was the first to turn color in the landscape, and was radiantly lit by the sun, so caught my attention as the spot for me to feature. The title refers to a line in the children’s book Go Dogs Go, for the umbrella shape of the tree reminded me of the one they were heading to in the story.
