This pastel is of a moment when we entered Yellowstone from the north, after having climbed the Beartooth Pass in serious storm conditions, with harrowingly little sight distance on either side of the road, where possibly huge drop-offs lurked. Then, all of a sudden, when we emerged at the top of the plateau, the countryside was with bathed in this amazing light! It was a memorable moment that I felt has important conceptual symbolism.
